We have assembled an exceptional team of educators, both from within the school and across the district. We will offer a hands-on, rigorous academic program, smaller class sizes, and an environment of high expectations for both behavior and academics. We will offer Art, Music, and Physical Education programs focused on creativity, social-emotional development, and citizenship. With strong community values and family partnerships, we will create an amazing school where your students will flourish.
Enrollment will open on February 1, 2026, for the 2026-2027 school year. All students currently attending NES must complete the enrollment form to secure their spot for the 2026-2027 school year.
Families may begin the enrollment process on February 1, 2026. If additional information is required to complete your enrollment, our office staff will contact you. Notification of acceptance will be sent to families on March 6th.
Currently enrolled students are given priority. If seats are available after the initial enrollment period, a lottery will be held, and the remaining open seats will be filled. Any student may submit an application and will have an equal chance of being selected, subject only to the enrollment limitations and preferences. All families interested in enrolling their child at NCS should fill out the enrollment form beginning Feb. 1st.

NCS will offer the following enrollment preferences for families if there are any vacant seats after the initial enrollment period for the 2026-2027 school year:

(a) students living within the attendance zone;
(b) students who are siblings of students enrolled at the school;
(c) students who are the children of an employee of the charter school;
(d) students who are the children of an active-duty member of any branch of the United States Armed Forces;
(e) students who are the children of a member of the Governing Board of the charter school and
(f) students who completed a voluntary prekindergarten education program provided by the charter school during the previous year. (This preference does not apply to the 2026-2027 school year.) All parents interested in attending should fill out the enrollment form beginning Feb. 1st.

Incoming kindergarteners for the 2026-2027 school year must be 5 years old by September 1st.

No. NCS will not offer VPK for the 2026-2027 school year.
NCS will hold a Kindergarten Roundup in May, which coincides with the district-announced date. This will be held at the Municipal Building. If you are interested in enrolling your Kindergartener, you are strongly encouraged to complete the enrollment form, which will be available on February 1st. This will ensure you receive all communications regarding any additional documentation required to complete the enrollment process.
The school day will be 7:45 am-2:30 pm with one early release day at 1:00 pm the first Wednesday of the month. This schedule focuses on additional academic minutes to implement academic programs and additional learning opportunities.

NCS will have early dismissal once a month to allow time for teacher planning and development.

Early Dismissal will be the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m.

NCS will follow the Alachua County School Board calendar on days off, flex days, and school cancellations.

NCS will ensure that transportation is not a barrier to equal access for all students residing within 2-4 miles from campus.
NCS will comply with Florida’s mandated class size requirements of having a maximum of 18 students in grades K-3 classes and 22 students in grades 4-5 classes
Yes. NCS will provide special education services, as well as speech, occupational, and physical therapy.

Yes. NCS will serve breakfast and lunch. As a new school, not all students will receive free meals. However, families may still qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on income eligibility requirements.

NCS will follow the Alachua County School District’s Code of Student Conduct.

Yes. NCS will offer the Panther PAWS Program before- and after-school care, beginning at 6:30 a.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m. Registration and additional details will be announced at a later date. Families can also register for the Panther PAWS Early Release program, which provides child care on early dismissal Wednesdays only.

Yes. The City of Newberry will continue to contract with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Department to provide a School Resource Officer for NCS.

No. NCS is a public charter school, and students do not pay tuition to attend.
